Mosquitoes can carry multiple diseases such as Dengue, West Nile Disease, Chikungunya, and the Zika Virus. Please follow the steps below to help protect you and your family from contracting these diseases – keeping them and your community safe.

Always remember your "Five D's"

1. Drain

Mosquitoes breed and frequent places with standing water. To prevent mosquito growth in your community, remember to tip and toss items that collect water.

2. Defend yourself by using EPA registered and approved bug repellent products that contain any of the following ingredients:

  • DEET
  • Picaridin
  • IR3535
  • Oil of lemon eucalyptus/para-methane-oil
  • 2-undecanone

3. Dress

Please dress appropriately when you expect to be in areas with mosquitoes. Long sleeves and pants will help limit areas where mosquitoes can bite you.

4. Dusk/Dawn

Mosquitoes are more active during sunrise and sundown. Remember to use mosquito repellent during these times.

5. Doors

Make sure doors and windows are in good repair and fit tightly.
