Diversion officially launched in August of 2020. Currently, there are two service providers for Diversion Services, Gateway Center and Temple Zaban Paradies Center

Diversion is a problem-solving strategy used to assist individuals who are new to literal homelessness (either staying in a place not meant for human habitation or in an emergency shelter in City of Atlanta) to help make their episode of homelessness brief. Another component to Diversion is Rapid Exit. Rapid Exit allows for an individual or family who is residing in an emergency shelter to rapidly exited from the shelter to a permanent destination within 90 days. Program elements of Diversion consist of case management and limited financial assistance. 

Case Management Consists of:

  • Intake/assessment/screening
  • Problem-solving conversations
  • Negotiating return to previous housing
  • Family/friends negotiations
  • Crisis housing search assistance
  • Resource linkages
 
 

Limited Financial Assistance Consists of: 

  • Security Deposits & First Month’s Rent 
  • Utility Payments & Arrears (must be accompanied by past due bill) 
  • Transportation (Bus Tickets) 
  • Groceries 
  • Financial incentives to aid in family/friends negotiations (rental supplement, etc.)
 

To access Diversion housing solutions, all individuals must first be assessed through Coordinated Entry. For a referral to Diversion services, call ATL311 Supportive Services (404) 546-0311, select option 1 when prompted for the Supportive Services Team.

 

For in person assistance, visit Gateway Center at 275 Pryor Street, SW, Atlanta, GA 30303 9am - 4pm or Temple Zaban Paradies Center Office at 1605 Peachtree Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30309 Monday and Thursday 10:00am - 2:00pm.
